Birthday Month!

So, this month the boys will be turning 6 and 7!  *gulp*  I have no idea how they got to be so old so quickly!

For his birthday, Aiden wants nothing more than to go to the aquarium to see the sharks...so we will bring him to Chicago to see the aquarium and to visit the Lego store...(and of course get some yummy food at the Cheesecake Factory!)

He also wants one of these:

http://www.amazon.com/TREE-HOUSE-KIDS-Giant-Pillows/dp/B0030HSI86/ref=sr_1_5?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1311701885&sr=1-5

A giant Shark body pillow, but that may have to wait until Christmas.  Santa and I will have a talk about it later ;)

Cason is ALL about the Mario Brothers.  He wants his room done in Mario, meaning Mario bedding, curtains, pillows, wall decals, and figurines.

Here is the bedding...it costs a bunch if you buy the sheets and the comforter set, but I think it'll be fine with just the comforter and pillowcases:

 He wants these decals:

http://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Wall-Graphics-Super-Mario/dp/B001JK6EXW/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1312821708&sr=8-2

but he may have to settle for these:

These are from Walmart and MUCH cheaper, but not as cool.

But the thing he wants most is a bowser plush...cute, ain't he!

Digging for Gold

A few days ago, Skyla had the idea that the kids should dig a hole in the sandbox in search of gold so that Teddy didn't have to work and the kids could show us how much they "appreciated" us.  She recruited Aiden as the brains of the operation and of course Cason tagged along as the slave labor.  Saturday night, Aiden stayed awake planning, making a list of all the tools necessary.  The list included: bike helmets (in case the hole caves in), backpacks (to carry a packed lunch and drinks), and a flashlight (so they can see any bad guys who are underground guarding the gold).   They've been out in the sandbox for the last three days digging and now I'm afraid to go look to see how big the hole is.  All I know is that they have been coming inside REALLY dirty...caked in mud from head to toe.

cheese!

We dig, dig, dig

Dirt!  (Aiden decided not to get too dirty this time)

Extraterrestrial

Well, things are getting a little bit interesting around here....an alien in the form of an 8 yr old girl (their cousin) has invaded our home. This means that barbies, baby dolls, and the color pink, have overtaken one of the bedrooms to the utter amazement of my boys.  Anything "girly" fascinates them.  It should be interesting to see how they deal with this strange being!

From there to here, and here to there, funny things are everywhere. ~Dr. Seuss

First, Happy Birthday to Dr. Seuss!  'Green Eggs and Ham' was the first book Cason learned to read and as part of his school's March reading month he had to read it tonight...here is a bit of him reading:

And tonight after Grayson's bath I was putting on his jammies and he said (while putting his finger in his ear) "Mom, you didn't clean out my ears!"  When I told him that of course I had cleaned his ears, he stuck the SAME finger in his MOUTH...thinks for a minute, smacks his lips together, and says, "Oh, yeah...I guess you did."

Boys are so GROSS!!

Last, but not least, here is a picture of me and Aiden we took with my phone.  We took it because he said, "Hey, Mom...can you take our picture and put it on Facebook?"  LOL...sorry, it's on the blog instead!

Born This Way

     First some good school news:
Aiden is really great with addition problems and was at the top of his class, but for some reason he just wasn't catching on to subtraction.  We've been working with him a bit and today he brought home this:
He was so proud of himself! :)

Second, some silly stuff:
I usually play the radio while we are eating dinner (or really while we do anything upstairs) and Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" came on and I caught the end of Cason dancing up a storm.

February Love

Me: Ok boys, you can send someone in your class a candygram...who do you want to give one to?
Cason: Julia.  And Elyse.  Elyse and Julia...can I have two?
Aiden: Hmmm....
Cason: Mom, can I have two because I have two girlfriends?
Aiden:  Can I give one to Hunter because I don't think anyone will give him anything since he's mean to everybody?
Cason: Mooooooom, can I have two?
Aiden:  And if we can have two can I give one to Marlee...and Sami C. so she isn't jealous?

Later:
Cason: "Mom, we learned an "I love you" song in spanish today and every time it said "I love you" Julia and I pointed to each other...cause we're in love with each other."

Even Later:
Cason: Do you know what Sami C said on the bus?  She said me and Julia are gonna kiss and WE ARE NOT!
Me: Why would she say that to you?
Cason: Because she thinks we are boyfriend and girlfriend...well we are boyfriend and girlfriend, but not big enough boyfriend and girlfriend to KISS!!!  AND Sami C is going to tell the WHOLE city..even Texas...that we are going to kiss.  If she does, she will be in deep doodoo!
Aiden: Oh my gosh, I will have to tell my teacher about this.  I will definitely need to tell her this...it's serious.

Stuck Like Glue

While Aiden and Cason were playing their game I was listening to music...when Aiden started to dance I grabbed my phone and filmed it...without further ado...here is Aiden shaking his little booty!

Tricky Fish

Cason: (Looking on the counter for his bag of Swedish Fish) Mom, I can't find my fish.  Where did they go?

Me: Maybe they swam away.

Cason: Mom, they can't swim away!

Aiden: Why not?

Cason: BECAUSE (sigh) they are in a BAG!

I guess the fact that they aren't actually REAL fish had NOTHING to do with it! LOL

The Run of the School...

Aiden's School Secretary: Is this Aiden's Mom?
Me: Yes.
AS: Well, Aiden wanted you to be informed that he fell out of his chair in class and hit his cheek.  He came to the office to have ice put on it and he has a very small mark.  He is back in his classroom, but he really felt you should be called and told about the situation.
Me: OK, thank you.  He fell out of his chair?
AS: (with laughter in her voice) Yes, he has no idea how he fell out of his chair he just did...and he thought you should know.
Me: OK, thanks for calling...
LOL

**~Happy New Year~**

This year has been an especially weird one.  There was loss of family members, endings of friendships, and major disappointments...but then I take into account all the wonderful things that evened it out and the boys are right up there at the top (along with many other people, but this blog IS about the boys).

They're amazingly silly, smart, and sweet.  They never fail to make me laugh right when I need it or warm my heart when it feels the world is a little too cruel.  I could never have asked God for better children than the ones I have...I am very blessed!

We let the kids stay up last night until midnight for the first time and they actually made it until midnight to see the ball drop, though Cason's eyes turned glassy and unfocused...lol

The best line of the night had to be by Aiden when he said, "C'mon, Cason, let's stop playing this game and go upstairs.  We'll be adults and drink pop."

Have a very Happy New Year...I hope it's a very wonderful one for all of you!
